Carla Ruschival
Carla Ruschival is a teacher, writer, radio talk show host, meeting planner, and advocate. She co-ordinated an adult education program for the Kentucky Council of the Blind for 25 years; taught English, math, science, technology and crafts to children and adults for many years; and has homeschooled two of her grandchildren.
After graduation from the University of Louisville, Carla published her own crafts and children's magazines for the blind. She edits newsletters for the Kentucky Council of the Blind and the Alumni Association of the Kentucky School for the Blind; writes regularly for "The Braille Forum", a national magazine from the American Council of the Blind (circulation 25,000-plus); and is the Vision Issues editor at BellaOnline.com. For five years she has co-hosted Sound Prints, a weekly radio talk show featuring news and issues of interest to the visually impaired.
Carla has co-ordinated numerous large national conventions. She has negotiated contracts, compiled programs and publicity materials, and planned hundreds of meetings, workshops, seminars and social events.
Carla's hobbies include reading, music, genealogy, knitting and crocheting, and collecting recipes. She enjoys playing cards and other games, shopping on the Net, and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.
